April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals during several Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold medal over the next few days. More than that though Ross will be aiming for her very first Olympic gold. It may well be that it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. She is still confident but she is not sure. If we perform at our very best or even if we play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. "I'm planning to test some luck." Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. Ross's athletic endeavors was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of activities. In addition to the indoor game, she also played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. She stood out however during this game. According to her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside volleyball player throughout her time in high school. For her efforts she was awarded in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her in volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been doing what they do since 2017. But, Ross played a significant role in the beach volleyball scene before the pairing. It's true that she has been able to win multiple events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to 2013. Alongside Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. They took home a Silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. They won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross played for the Trojans of USC in her the college years following her graduation from high school. Her time at USC was one to remember. In 2000 she was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year and an All-American. She was also one of the key players to help the Trojans make their way to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss during her sophomore year, but was still able to achieve the All-American award. In her last two years she led the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. As an individual, she established her place as a legend having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the highest ranked female volleyball player. Ross played international relations as a major at USC. Margie Ross did not see her daughter make it to the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. However, she keeps her mother in her heart. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her in and out of the water.
