Susan Sarandon Bio
It was after the 1968 Democratic convention, and there was a casting notice for a film featuring a range of roles for young individuals who disrupted the convention. Joe (1970) was auditioned in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had trained for the role, was ostracized. His wife Susan was offered a role in the film as Susan Compton. Susan is the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the movie Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer boyfriend and next befriends Joe (Peter Boyle)-- an obnoxious worker as an assembly line worker and who collects guns.Five years later, Sarandon made the film that fans of the cult classics are familiar with her character Janet who is involved with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After more than 15 years, Sarandon finally actively campaigned for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), flying herself from Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. "It was an amazing script ... and was able to dispel many myths and challenge the American definition of success" she told. "I went to the studio with Kevin Costner, sex some actors in the studio, and then I got back on a plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) acting as a support actor was her first lover. He had two sons by the year 1992. This puts Sarandon in a precarious position. She would leave her home and take on the roles that were extremely challenging. There were four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The award for the best actress was presented for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also given. Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
